B/W Photography

Went out today to finish my roll of black and white film. It was sunny at first though became cold and cloudy later on. Unfortunately I forgot to take my filters with me. And my wider angle lens (I took my manual slr).

One thing that bothers me with b/w shots is that I don’t seem to be able to correctly guess how the photo will look. I seem to always get fooled by the colours in a scene and forget it might look rather bland in b/w. Well I personally liked three photo’s out of the whole roll, and if I’m to be really critical I think there was only one I could say was really good.

It’s sometimes annoying having that happen….seems to happen a lot
But half the fun is taking the shots, so I didn’t mind exploring the city, was quite fun. I actually mustered enough courage to take people shots. Though people can still get ticked off which scares me. Maybe I should just enjoy the adrenalin rush, so I take it and run off!

Well hopefully I will get have some free time to scan the film to my computer. I’m curious if I can make some of the other shots come out nice, with a little help from Photoshop hehe

At the camera store I bought some Agfa ULTRA 100, (hope it lives up to its claims of amazing colour). So I quickly ran through melbourne trying to capture some of those colourful scenes I had seen before the sun went down.
